Bremen HS Computer Science Students Visit Google
Students had the opportunity to meet with several 'Googlers' at the Chicago campus
“Just Google It,” a common saying that just about everyone understands now-a-days, has new meaning to a select group of students from Bremen High School. Fifty business technology students had the opportunity to visit the Fortune 500 named #1 company in the United States to work, Google.
The computer science students had the opportunity to meet with Googler Christopher Walsh along with several other “Googlers.” Walsh lead the students through a presentation regarding how Google is run, how Google contributes to worldwide issues, as well as 10X thinking. Googlers also gave the students tours of the facilities and showed them how Google takes care of their employees with complimentary snacks and refreshments.
Complimentary breakfast, lunch, snacks, and coffee are only the beginning of the perks for becoming an employee at Google. Other perks the students learned about included paid maternity leave, freedom to explore and invent, opportunities to serve the community are welcomed and encouraged, and exploration of innovative technology are at employees fingertips.

“Mr. Walsh went above and beyond for our students. He made the experience unforgettable and allowed them to realize their true potential if they work hard in school. It was obvious that Mr. Walsh is proud to be a Googler! The students asked him extraordinary questions. My hope for the students was to expose them to a Fortune 500 company, yet we walked away with so much more! I wanted them to realize what life after high school could look like when they apply themselves to the fullest. The students were beaming with excitement after leaving Google, it was such a great experience!” said Bremen Business Technology teacher Mrs. Amber Guzak.
Google is a global company that does so much more than just web browsing. Google also develops smartphones, smart contact lenses, social media applications, and much more. Bremen High School would like to thank Googler Mr. Walsh for taking time out of his busy schedule to meet with the BHS students; this truly was a spectacular experience!
