Bremen HS Football Team Volunteers at GiGi's Playhouse
The athletes assisted at GiGi's Playhouse Annual 5K race

Recently, the Bremen High School’s Varsity Football Team came together to volunteer at the 2017 Gigi’s Playhouse 5K. Gigi’s Playhouse is a non-profit organization that strives for acceptance for children and adults with Down Syndrome. At Gigi’s Playhouse families can come together to work on therapeutic goals as well as educational goals. Families are never given a bill; therefore the fundraising efforts (like the race) are crucial for the continuing of their programs. This year’s Gigi’s Playhouse 5K had over 1000 participants which raised almost $60,000.
“The players did such an amazing job! Everyone loved having them at the event! We were extremely happy with their performance and so grateful having them there!” said Beth Kazmierczak, Site Director for Gigi’s Playhouse.
Bremen HS Varsity Head Coach Mr. Dan Stell said the experience was amazing, "Our guys had an absolute blast. As a program we stress to our student-athletes that it is important for us to realize that we need to use our gifts and abilities to help those around us as often as we can, especially in our society today. We were impressed beyond words, with the interaction and involvement of our athletes and the participants at this amazing event. We can't thank GiGi's Playhouse enough for giving us the opportunity to be a part of this special day."
