Bremen HS Honors One of Their Own for St. Baldrick's Fundraiser

The event was a tribute to freshmen classmate Shamaya Thompson who lost her battle with cancer this year

Bremen High School joins nearly 100 other local schools to participate in raising money for childhood cancer with an annual St. Baldrick’s event! The event brought students, faculty and the community together to raise funds for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the largest non-government funder of childhood cancer grants worldwide.

This year’s BHS event included 10 shaves and 20 people donating eight or more inches of hair to Locks of Love. As the volunteer barbers and stylists cut and shaved there was plenty of entertainment for the crowd; the event started with the National Anthem sang by sophomore Gardenia Verduzco followed by the BHS cheerleaders, Fuego Dance Group, Diversity Club, Real Men Dance, pie in the faces of faculty (teachers, coaches, administrators), and a surprise faculty dance; all for one common goal, to raise as much money as possible for childhood cancer.

“The reason this event is such a huge success is thanks to the many hours put into preparation and fundraising by our students. Their excitement, generosity and commitment is the whole reason we do this event,” said St. Baldrick’s Sponsor Mr. Todd Strein.
