Bremen High School recently hosted a Family Reading Night in the Information Media Center. Copies of The Playbook by Kwame Alexander were distributed to students through the library, English classes and the Midlothian Public Library. The Playbook is intended to provide inspiration on the court of life. Each rule contains wisdom from inspiring athletes and role models such as Nelson Mandela, Serena Williams, LeBron James, Carli Lloyd, Steph Curry and Michelle Obama. Kwame Alexander also provides his own poetic and uplifting words, sharing stories of overcoming obstacles and winning games in this motivational and inspirational book. The guests at Family Reading Night were able to enjoy delicious tacos from Los Serapes, and participate in a discussion with Bremen employee, Mr. Anton Nixon, a former professional athlete about his experiences in college athletics and beyond! Congratulations to the following raffle winners: Ceasar Shears, Bryant Miller, Amaria Spencer, Covaughn Allen, and Sydney Bruce, who won punch cards to the library coffee house.
