Bremen HS Hosts its First ICAM Campaign

First Illinois College Application Month event has 98% participation

Bremen High School is excited to announce that 98% of the class of 2015 have started the college and post-secondary application process. Bremen participated in its first Illinois College Application Month (ICAM), an annual event sponsored by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). During the Illinois College Application Month event, Bremen seniors received hands-on assistance from the counselors and staff volunteers.

“Our goal was for each student to successfully begin at least one college admission application during the event,” said Counselor Ms. Carla Cheatham, “we are excited to announce that through the ICAM program, 98% of the seniors in the graduating class met with counselors during a College Application Workshop and began a college application.”

In addition, the Pupil Personnel Services Department has currently recognized nearly 30 students who have turned in their college acceptance letters. Each Wednesday throughout the school year, counselors and Mr. Ed Sterling, Assistant Principal for Student Services, formally congratulate students with a customized candy bar and picture with our counseling staff.

“The excitement of the congratulatory Wednesdays is catching on. The students are excited and proud when they bring us their acceptance letters. The ICAM event has allowed our seniors to take the next step in pursuing their postsecondary plans with support along the way,” said Cheatham.
