Bremen HS Industrial Tech Female Enrollment on the Rise
Shop classes aren't just for boys anymore
Traditionally when you think of high school Industrial Technology classes (a.k.a. “shop” class) you would think of a classroom full of male students working on wood pieces or cars in the auto shop. However, at Bremen High School the female students are joining in on the fun!
Female enrollment in the shop classes is on the rise! “It’s refreshing to see the females join in on the fun! There is no reason female students shouldn’t learn the basics of car maintenance like changing a tire or oil. Not only will they be driving soon, but knowing these skills could save them money when they own their own car,” said Industrial Technology teacher Mr. Jerry Ward.
“I chose to take the course and am glad I did. I would like to go into engineering so this is great practice. I like that he doesn’t separate us male and females; he expects us to be able to do just as much as the boys!” said junior auto mechanics student Nia Harden.
