Bremen HS Participates in College Application Month

This annual campaign is sponsored by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission

The month of October was one of the busiest months to date for Bremen High School’s Student Services Department! At Bremen, October is also known as Illinois College Application Month (ICAM) to the senior class! BHS recently participated in its 4th ICAM, an annual campaign sponsored by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). During ICAM, Bremen hosted a college fair with over 20 colleges, decorated the halls with many college and university banners, and encouraged students and staff to wear college gear on Wednesdays! Most importantly, seniors received hands-on assistance with their college applications from their counselors, the Project Manager, BHS’ ISAC representative and admissions counselors from South Suburban College. The goal was for each student to successfully begin at least one college admission application during the campaign. In addition, the PPS department recognized students who had submitted a first college acceptance letter. Each Wednesday, the Counselor Pride Team congratulated and rewarded students with a customized candy bar and picture with the counseling staff. “This is an exciting event that allows our seniors from Bremen High School to take the next step in pursuing their post-secondary plans!” said BHS Guidance Counselor Ms. Kristine Bonebrake. Additional information about the ICAM program can be found online at www.collegechangeseverything.org/appmonth.
