Bremen HS Participates in Illinois College Application Month
This annual event is sponsored by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission
Bremen High School Student Services Department is excited to announce the class of 2016 will be participating in Illinois College Application Month (ICAM) for the second consecutive year. ICAM is an annual event sponsored by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). During October, BHS seniors will be receiving hands-on assistance from the guidance counselors and staff volunteers. The class of 2016 has already eagerly started filling out applications for their post-secondary plans. “Our goal is for each graduating senior to successfully begin at least one college admission application during the event,” said BHS Counselor Ms. Carla Cheatham.
Besides the self-pride the students will be feeling from starting their post-secondary applications, the Student Services Department is upping the ante by celebrating the students’ accomplishments with them; the Counselor Pride Crew will hand deliver a special candy bar for each first acceptance letter that is turned in to PPS. “The entire Bremen staff is on board with this month long event; staff is wearing college gear on Wednesdays, teachers are decorating their doors and classrooms with college gear and are starting conversations with students about post-secondary plans. Even our marketing class got involved with the event by creating the window clings for the front foyer,” said Mr. Ed Sterling, Assistant Principal of Student Services.
“This is an exciting time for our students; we want to let them know that we care about them and their future endeavors,” said Business Technology teacher Ms. Amber Guzak.
