Bremen HS Seniors Honored at the Salute to Academic Achievement Event
Students across the state were recognized for their academic success

Twelve Bremen High School seniors were recently invited to be honored at the Salute to Academic Achievement (SAA) event sponsored by all three campuses of the University of Illinois. Students across the State of Illinois who earned an ACT score of 24 or above and who rank in the top 25th percentile of their senior class were personally invited for the purpose of recognizing their academic success. Bremen seniors invited to the event were: Diego Alvarado, Janet Avila, Diamond Cheffin, Javier Covarrubias, Maria Dorado, Emilio Feregrino, Martin Garcia, Delfino Gomez, Diana Pacheco, Raymond Perez, Daejah Sally, and Stacey Shelton. The five students who attended the event in Chicago were escorted by Counselors Kristine Bonebrake and Carla Cheatham. Program highlights included a University of Illinois college fair, a delightful lunch, and remarks by current students as well as three highly-esteemed guest speakers: Michael Amiridis, Chancellor, University of Illinois at Chicago and Vice President, University of Illinois; Carmen Caldero, Principal for CPC y Asociados, LLC; and Dr. Christophe Pierre, Vice President for Academic Affairs, University of Illinois. All of the speakers encouraged the students to seek opportunities out of their comfort zones in order to grow in their understanding of different people, beliefs, religions, and cultures.
