Bremen HS Spanish Classes Enjoy 'Dia de Juegos'

'Game Day' allowed students to practice key concepts they have been learning

Bremen High School’s Spanish teacher Mrs. Gina Arguelles hosted a Día de Juegos or “Game Day” during many of her classes last week. Students had the choice to play Uno, Battleship, Shapes and Colors Bingo, Go Fish, and Memory. The games that the students played allowed them to practice key concepts that they had been learning this quarter. Spanish One classes focused on colors, shapes, alphabet, numbers, days and months while the Heritage Spanish class focused on speaking Spanish 100% of the time and practiced their number skills, spelling, as well as knowing the Spanish speaking countries and capitals. “Not only were the students practicing their words in Spanish, but they were also practicing interacting with one another,” stated Mrs. Gina Arguelles, Bremen Spanish Teacher. “Students are so tuned into technology these days; it was nice to unplug and watch them play some good old fashion games!” Although the students seemed to enjoy all of the games, Uno was the crowd favorite! Heritage Spanish One Sophomore Emily Roa said, “I enjoyed game day! It gave me the opportunity to not only speak in Spanish but also to practice what we have been learning in a fun way!” For more information about Día de Juegos at BHS contact Mrs. Gina Arguelles at garguelles@bhsd228.com.
