Bremen HS Spanish Teachers Host 'Meet the Spanish Teacher Night'

Families learn about curriculum in their student's Spanish class

On Wednesday, September 17, World Language Teachers Gina Arguelles, Carrie Diederich, Kristen Kaczmarek, and Mayra Ortega, hosted a “Meet the World Language Teacher” night at Bremen High School. Mrs. Arguelles constructed the idea, brought it up to fellow world language teachers and they jumped right on board! The objectives of the evening were for the parents to come into Bremen, into their child’s Spanish class, meet the Spanish teacher and learn about the curriculum. In addition to her Spanish classes, Ms. Kaczmarek also invited the parents from her American History classes to discuss expectations and the upcoming Constitution test.

One of the parents that attended Mrs. Arguelles’ meeting pulled her aside at the end of the evening and explained how the Spanish Heritage class is bringing their family closer together. Her son is coming home asking questions about their family’s heritage so they are able to sit and talk about ancestry and where they come from.

“We are so excited that so many parents were able to come and “Meet the Spanish Teacher”! The evening was a huge success. I am already looking forward to hosting a similar event next year,” said Mrs. Arguelles.
