Bremen HS 'Students of the 4th Quarter'

These students were recognized for doing great things at Bremen High School and/or in the community

Each quarter Bremen High School honors several students as “Student of the Quarter”. These students are recognized for doing great things at Bremen High School and/or in the community. The 2018 BHS Students of the 4th Quarter are: Freshmen Cian Martinez, Sophomore Allyson Reed, Junior Julia Bahena-Villasana, and Senior Mitchell Roper.

Freshmen Student of the 4th Quarter, Cian Martinez, was nominated by his health teacher, Ms. Kelley. Ms. Kelley nominated Cian for his academic success in health class. MS. Kelley said, “Cian brings such a different perspective and set of ideas into the classroom. He is always the first to share his thoughts and participate in classroom discussions. He is a great communicator and a strong self-advocate. He truly values his education and puts forth great effort into everything he does. He is very creative, inquisitive and highly expressive. He is a true pleasure to have in class.”

Sophomore Student of the 4th Quarter, Allyson Reed, was nominated by BHS social worker, Ms. Theresa Connelly and PPS counselor Ms. Kristine Bonebrake. Allyson has been a dedicated supporter of the St. Baldrick’s foundation since 4th grade. She is an active member of Code of the Braves and played a large role in organizing this year’s St. Baldrick's event. Both this year and last, Allyson received recognition for being the top fundraiser, raising $2,400 this year alone and over $10,000 since she first began fundraising back in 4th grade. Additionally, she is a member of the water polo team and is maintaining straight A's in her AP and Honors classes.

BHS Junior Student of the 4th Quarter is Julia Bahena-Villasana, was nominated by math teacher Mr. Peter Matushek. Mr. Matushek said, “Julia has shown great strides in math class recently and is showing great pride in her work. Julia has demonstrated through her determination that great things come with hard work and determination.”

BHS Senior student of the 4th Quarter is Mitchell Roper. Ms. Patti Godette. Ms. Godette said, “Mitchell is a very responsible, motivated and confident student. His autism has not hindered him from having academic success. He has been on the honor roll since freshman year and excels in math. He comes to school every day with an excitement for learning and a dedication for going above and beyond at school and at South Suburban College where he is acquiring post-secondary employment skills. Mitchell has grown from a once shy boy to a confident young man! Mitchell is a positive role model and a fine example of a Bremen Brave!”
