Bremen HS Students Participate in Global Youth Service Day
Students helped clean a wooded path at the Sundrop Prairie Nature Preserve
On Saturday, April 16, 2016 Bremen High School’s Student Council participated in Global Youth Service Day. This service day was led by French teacher and Student Council sponsor Mrs. Amanda Chelepis. Ms. Chelepis along with eleven students went to the Sundrop Prairie Nature Preserve and spent two hours cleaning the wooded area and path that runs between 149th Street and 151st Street. “I am extremely proud of this group of students who gave their time on a Saturday morning to assist their community!” said Chelepis. Global Youth Service Day is the largest community service event in the world, and the only event dedicated to celebrating the contributions that young people make to their communities year-round. Several Chicago Southland area schools, churches, and organizations joined forces in a variety of student-led service projects all over the Chicagoland area as part of an international campaign that celebrates the power of young people. Global Youth Service Day is led locally by The Bridge Teen Center in Orland Park.
