Bremen HS Students Predict 2015 Oscar Winners

Psychology lesson turns into a competition

What better way to engage students than to turn a psychology lesson into a competition revolving around the 2015 Oscars. Coupling a psychology lesson with the recent Academy Awards, Bremen High School Psychology teacher Mr. Chad Augustine presented his students with an exciting opportunity in the Third Annual Bremen High School Psychology Oscar Challenge. The eight contenders for Best Picture at the 87th Academy Awards all revolved around psychological drama, including conflicting egos, agonizing trauma, and neurotic outbursts. It was fitting that Bremen High School students use their knowledge of psychology and learn how it translates into an Academy Award. Students researched, analyzed, and predicted the winners from all 24 Oscar categories and won by having the most correct predictions on their final ballots. Winning students from four classes were awarded Beggars Pizza gift cards. Senior Katie Hayes, the overall winner last year, defended her title this year and was crowned overall champion from Mr. Augustine’s AP Psychology class.
