Bremen HS Students Spread Kindness during Anti-Bullying Month

The Bathroom Project was started to empower teenage girls to overcome negativity

Code of the Braves is a character education group that is led by Bremen High School social worker Ms. Theresa Connelly. This month for Anti-Bullying Month, the club members decided to take anti-bullying a step further. They wanted to spread kindness throughout the school by building their peers up. With kindness in mind, The Bathroom Project was started! The object of the project is to empower teenage girls enough to overcome negativity. “The students decided that anti-bullying wasn’t enough. They wanted to start a movement in which women uplift, empower, encourage and inspire each other,” said Connelly. Each female washroom at Bremen is decorated with kind messages on Post-its, pull tabs, and flyers to empower girls to think positive and act kind. “The pull tabs and Post-its were a huge hit; we were refilling them by the hour the first few days,” said Connelly. “I really enjoyed the bathroom project. It not only looked really cute but it made girls feel better when they were looking in the mirror,” said Code of the Braves member Ariana Lopez.
