“Just Google It,” a common saying that just about everyone understands now-a-days has new meaning to a select group of students from Bremen High School. Eighteen technology students had the opportunity to visit the Fortune 500 named #1 company in the United States to work, Google.
Business and Technology teacher Mrs. Amber Guzak took her Web Page & Design students to Google Chicago to meet with Googler Becky Johnson, Client Partner Lead. Johnson along with several other “Googlers” (as they call themselves) gave the students private tours of the facilities introducing them to other Googlers along the way.
Free breakfast, lunch, snacks, and coffee are only the beginning of the perks for becoming an employee at Google. Other perks the students learned about included paid maternity leave, freedom to explore and invent, opportunities to serve the community are welcomed and encouraged, and exploration of innovative technology are at employees fingertips.

“It was obvious that Ms. Johnson is proud to be a Googler; she spoke with enthusiasm and pride when talking about the company and her role with Google. The students asked her extraordinary questions; she was patient, kind, in-depth and really took the time to listen and answer all of their questions. My hope for the students was to expose them to a Fortune 500 company, yet we walked away with so much more! I wanted them to realize what life after high school could look like if they work to their full potential. The students were beaming with excitement after leaving Google, it was such a great experience!” said Guzak.
Google is a global company that does so much more than just web browsing. Google also develops smartphones, smart contact lenses, social media applications, and much more. Bremen High School would like to thank Googler Ms. Becky Johnson for taking time out of her busy schedule to meet with the Bremen students, this truly was a spectacular experience for them!
