Bremen HS Students Visit Method's South Side Soapbox

The Soapbox is a leader in planet-friendly household products

Bremen High School's Career and Technical Education (CTE) students recently traveled to see Method's South Side Soapbox, a leader in planet-friendly household, fabric, and personal care products. Mrs. Amber Guzak’s classes were able to go on a tour of South Side Soapbox, which has the highest level of LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The students saw the 230-foot tall wind turbine, the rotating solar panels over the parking lot, beehives, 17 acres of prairie land, and a 2-acre greenhouse on the roof of the plant. Besides being able to see a LEED Platinum Certified company students were also able to talk with employees about the passion they have for the company. The tour guide shared that Method takes care of its employees by matching 401Ks, providing plenty of clothes, paying for their steel toe boots, and rewarding them with galas and paid time off. Senior Jessica Vieyra said, “Method found a way to use technology to bring the community together; they are using technology to make great changes in the world. We had a great trip!” Students were able to go through the plant to see the technology that Method uses in the plant to make all of their soaps and household cleaning products. They were also able to test out the cleaning products and soap. For more information on the trip contact BHS Business teacher Mrs. Amber Guzak at aguzak@bhsd228.com.
