Bremen HS Students Volunteer at Together We Cope

Students helped stock shelves at Tinley Park's Together We Cope

This time of year many people reflect on how grateful they are for the opportunities that they have. Two Bremen teachers, Mr. Eric Rudek and Mr. Michael Thompson, decided to take several senior students from their Cultural Perspectives course on a volunteer trip to Together We Cope (TWC) in Tinley Park. The mission of Together We Cope is to bridge the gap for Southland residents in temporary crisis by providing food, shelter, clothing, and referrals with the end result of returning them to be self-sufficient.

After arriving at TWC, the students sorted, date checked, and packed flats of food to get them ready for the shelves, where clients then come in and chose food that they need.

“The students did an excellent job in handling the tasks we gave them, as well as working with some of our other volunteers stocking shelves and unloading donations. We are very grateful for their time and energy given to our cause. They are welcome any time in the future to come back and volunteer,” said Gordon Collins from Together We Cope.
