Bremen HS Teacher of the Year

Family & Consumer Science Teacher Tanya Mack is the recipient of the 2016 BHS Teacher of the Year Award

Bremen High School and the graduating Class of 2016 are proud to announce the recipient of the 2016 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Tanya Mack. Mrs. Mack is a proud alumni of BHS and has worked there for 12 years. Mrs. April Nykaza, 228 Family and Consumer Science Supervisor said, “Mrs. Mack cares about her students as if they were her own children. She has a huge heart for the students and staff at Bremen High School. We are lucky to have her in the FACS Department and District 228!” Mrs. Mack’s success in the classroom can be credited to a several attributes: The relationships she has built with her students, her passion for teaching, and her love for the BHS community! This year Mrs. Mack and her FCCLA (Family, Career, Community, Leaders of America) students raised over $6,500 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDFR). “The students took such pride in raising money for type one diabetes. They were here after school hours, many times to help make our project successful! Their countless hours were all selfless acts to help others,” said Mrs. Mack. If Mrs. Mack’s FCCLA students put in many “after hour” hours, we know Mrs. Mack did as well! Her time, commitment, and passion were noticed this year by the graduating class! BHS Teacher of the Year is voted on by the current graduating class and is not announced until the night of graduation. Mrs. Mack humbly accepted her award in shock and disbelief! Her husband and her two daughters were secretly in the audience to watch her receive this prestigious award!
