Bremen HS Uses Cross Curricular Lessons to Build Bridges
Applied Engineering courses learn hands-on how to build efficient bridges

Bremen High School’s Applied Engineering classes learned hands-on how efficient bridges are made. Students used math and science, as well as mechanics and technology, to learn the structure of bridges. Efficiency is determined by comparing the weight of the bridge structure to the amount of weight the bridge could hold before collapse. After learning about the structure of bridges, the students each built their own bridges and then competed against each other to see whose was the most efficient. The winner of the event was freshmen Ronald Skala, his winning bridge held 26 pounds!
