Bremen HS's Ostrowsky Named 2017 Voice of Democracy Essay Contest Winner

Katie Ostrowsky will represent Bremen HS at the State competition in Springfield

Bremen High School junior, Katie Ostrowsky has been named the 2017 Voice of Democracy Essay Contest winner. Every fall, leaders from the Midlothian VFW Post, invite Bremen students to participate in an audio essay contest. Ostrowsky was selected by a panel of judges to represent Bremen at the regional banquet. The District 16 banquet was held on January 7, 2016. At the banquet, Ostrowsky took 1st Place in the region and was selected to represent Region 16 in the next level of competition. The next competition will be held in Springfield, Illinois this upcoming February. Ostrowsky will spend 2 days in Springfield with other district winners on a VFW sponsored tour of the state capital. Of the winners in Springfield, one winner will be chosen to represent the state of Illinois in Washington D.C. later this year. Katie had this to say, “I am truly honored to have been chosen to experience this exciting opportunity. I am beyond excited to see what is in store for me at the state level in Springfield. I am proud to represent Bremen High School and am thankful for all of the support that I am receiving."
