Bremen HS's Powers Receives Chicago Bears Community Champion Award

Philip Powers received his award at a ceremony at Halas Hall

Bremen High School is proud to announce that senior valedictorian and football captain, Philip Powers, has been awarded the Chicago Bears Community Champion Award! Powers was nominated by Bremen Varsity Head Coach Dan Stell. According to Coach Stell, “Philip, along with his family, engage in community service projects out of the generosity of their own hearts. His involvement in community service is an intrinsic quality of his upbringing. Philip has never sought out any recognition or fame, he is simply doing what’s right; all the time.” Powers received his award at a ceremony at Halas Hall in Lake Forest, Illinois. He is a two-year starter on Bremen’s varsity football team as well as part of the National Honors Society, Scholastic Bowl team, and Student Council. Phillip is also a Food Drive Volunteer, Advance Placement Scholar, and an extensive volunteer for Midlothian’s St. Christopher’s Parish. The Powers family has been on six mission trips within the United States. Besides the sensational looking award, Powers received a $5,000 scholarship to the college of his choice. Philip plans on being a political science major at the University of Illinois Chicago. Congratulations to Philip and his family on this once in a life time award!
