Bremen and Oak Forest HS Auto Mechanics Students Explore Their Futures

Students received valuable information for furthering their education in the automotive industry

Mr. Jerry Ward, Auto Mechanics Teacher at Oak Forest and Bremen High Schools set out on a journey with 40 Auto Mechanic students, to discover the world of work. Their first stop was Central Illinois Trucks (CIT) Kenworth in Mokena. They met the owner and several employees who took them on a tour of the facility and discussed the importance of an education and what it takes to facilitate an operation such as theirs. CIT currently employs 45 mechanics and are adding a third shift and weekend shift. The next stop was Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Lisle. The students met the school administrators and were part of a large STEM presentation followed by small group breakout sessions. The day ended with a delicious lunch reception. Mr. Ward stated, “It was a very successful day! Everyone enjoyed the tours and the information they received for furthering their education in the automotive industry.” For more information about Bremen High School Industrial Tech opportunities please contact IT Supervisor Mr. Dwayne Mentgen at Dmentgen@bhsd228.com.
