Cheer Marist Teacher's Arrival from 1,013-Mile Cycling Adventure on Sunday

Be part of Owen Glennon's triumphant return by bike by cheering him when he arrives home Sunday, July 12.

Come cheer Marist High School teacher Owen Glennon when he arrives in Mt. Greenwood after two weeks on the road on a bike.

Mr. Glennon is expected to arrive between 3:30 and 4 p.m. Sunday, July 12, where he will receive a police escort when he peddles into Chicago.

The Marist teacher started out from the Marist Brother Retreat Center in Esopus, NY, on June 28. His journey ends at Marist High School, 4200 W. 115th St., Chicago.

Mr. Glennon is has been connecting with alumni and parishes along the way, raising money for the school’s endowment fund to assist students in need. With a fundraising goal of $40,000 ($1,000 for each year Mr. Glennon has taught at the school), Marist has $38,000 since he hit the road.

Mr. Glennon will be pushing off from Valparaiso, IN, early Sunday morning for the last leg of his journey. Following is the escort route for Mr. Glennon’s return on Sunday, July 12:

  • Chicago Police will meet Mr. Glennon at 107th Street and Pulaski Road between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Teacher and police escort will proceed east on 107th Street to Central Park will proceed east on 107th Street to Central Park Avenue;
  • South on Central Park Avenue to 115th Street, west on 115th Street to Marist High School, 4200 W. 115th St., Chicago.

Marist High School is planning a big welcoming reception for Mr. Glennon when he arrives home from 3 to 5 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
