Cops Find Cannabis In Midlothian Man's Ceiling Tiles: Prosecutor

Chicago Ridge police found cannabis in man's ceiling tiles while executive a search warrant, prosecutor said.

MIDLOTHIAN, IL -- A Midlothian man was arrested after police found marijuana in the ceiling tiles of his bedroom, prosecutors said. Kyle Hargis, 21, appeared before Cook County Judge John Gallagher on a charge of manufacture and delivery of cannabis within 1,000 feet of a school. Hargis also has a pending case for the same offense in the Markham Courthouse.

According to the charges, Chicago Ridge police executed a search warrant Oct. 18 at Hargis’s home in the 15200 block of South Lawndale in Midlothian, that is within a 1,000 feet of Central Park Elementary School. Officers said they found 23 bags of marijuana in the ceiling tiles of his bedroom. A scale, two packages of baggies and mail addressed to Hargis were also found.

Hargis’s attorney told the judge his client is a graduate of Bremen High School and works as a drywaller. He said Hargis wasn’t home when police searched the house. The pot was found in a common area in the basement, when four other adults were present in the home, the attorney said.
