D228 Art Students Among the Best of the Best

The General Exhibition is one of Illinois' premier high school art exhibitions

The best 1,000 student artists from approximately 125+ Illinois high schools converged to showcase their art at the annual Illinois High School Art Exhibition (IHSAE) on February 25. The show took place at the Zhou B Art Center in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood.

The IHSAE receives well over 2,500 submissions for consideration for the General Exhibition. The General Exhibition is one of Illinois’ premier high school art exhibitions featuring student visual artworks from some of the top city, suburban, public and private high schools. It is a “Best of the Best” competition, developed by teachers, to recognize high school students’ artistic excellence. All entries are curated by the IHSAE Board of Directors and guest jurors, who select works by over 500 student artists for exhibition.

Congratulations to these 16 Bremen District 228 students and their art instructors who were selected to participate in the event. From Bremen High School: Students Jesus Carrillo, Adriana Rubio, Melissa Vazquez, and Instructor Jennifer Reid; from Tinley Park High School: Students MaryKate Gill, Brenae Scott, Joshua Urbanski, Franchesca Villarrubia, and Instructor Adam Pries; From Hillcrest High School: Students Crystal Currin, Darlene Moore-Jones, Timeon Oyeyemi, Jenny Soto, and Instructor Jamilah Adebesin-Mason; and from Oak Forest High School: Students Julia Cagnina, Krystyna Hall, Kristina Halstead, Wirada Kornkrasunk, Lynette Latocha, and Instructor Dan Chambers.
