D228 Choirs Raises Funds: National Alliance for Mental Illness, Health
"It was an incredible treat for all of us and we are so grateful for your heroic effort to make it happen."
One performance can make a large impact on an organization and the NAMI benefit fundraiser concert held last March is one such performance.
That’s what happened when the Oak Forest High School and Tinley Park High School Choirs joined forces last March to hold a benefit concert for the South Suburban Chapter of NAMI (The National Alliance for Mental Illness/Health).
At the concert, they raised over $3,000 for the organization and the students were really excited about it.

Fast forwarding to this year, NAMI remembered these open-hearted students and invited the Oak Forest High School Vocal Show choir students to perform at the NAMI State Convention held at Moraine Valley Community College during the school day on October 14. The OFHS Show Choir performed Lovely Day and One Day More.
Executive Director of NAMI, Andy Wade said, "It was an incredible treat for all of us and we are so grateful for your heroic effort to make it happen."

At the NAMI State Convention performance, the Oak Forest Choirs were invited to participate in an evening benefit raising awareness for Domestic Violence at Valley Kingdom Ministries International at a pending date.
One event can snowball into many different types of events and the students at Oak Forest High School are excited about the opportunities that they have been afforded as a result and what they can learn at each event that they attend.
