Students at Bremen High School District 228's Alternative Education Center recently had the opportunity to experience a college fair and financial aid presentations provided by South Suburban College.

The D228 Alternative Education Program referred to as Delta Academy, has taken 21st-century technology, paired it with individualized attention, and partnered with South Suburban College to provide an atmosphere where students can thrive. Students who are at high risk of dropping out, can not only learn in a new environment with the resources they need but start to think about their futures and the steps necessary to achieve success.

Because Delta Academy is housed at South Suburban College's Oak Forest Campus, this unique opportunity allowed students to explore programs literally within feet of them every day.

Students began the fair with a financial aid presentation led by Ana Travalin, Job Training Fiscal Coordinator with South Suburban College. After, they proceeded to the cafeteria where they could view a wide range of posters, handouts, and displays depicting the many departments, majors, certificates, and classes available at South Suburban College.

Students then chose four out of the eight departments or career pathways they were most interested in and were led to 15-minute informational sessions led by each department.
