D228 Staff Receives Heartfelt Thank-You from TWC

D228 Staff Collect Items for Together We Cope

Just prior to District 228’s Opening Day Institute on August 14, Together We Cope (TWC), an organization that helps families in temporary crisis and located in Tinley Park, contacted the District asking for help with their shortage of shampoos and other personal products.

The request was emailed to all staff from Bremen, Tinley Park, Hillcrest and Oak Forest High Schools, and the District Office to let them know of the need and that donations could be dropped off at the August 14 institute. Instant responses received were, “Fantastic”, “Awesome”, “Great”, and “Love the idea!”

At the institute, five large boxes of donations were collected for Together We Cope. Upon receipt of the donations TWC writer/volunteer Patty Houlihan said, “I had a chance to look through the boxes and I wanted to let you know how generous your staff was. People donated lots of large-sized bottles and packages, and a real variety of items, too. Clearly, they understand how much our client families can use this help. … I was touched by the staff’s thoughtfulness.”
