D228 Students Attend Stop the Violence Program at the Bridge Teen Center

The program empowers youth with attitudes, skills, and resources in order to recognize, report, and reduce youth violence

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) students from all four high schools recently traveled to The Bridge Teen Center in Tinley Park to participate in a program called Stop the Violence. The program empowers youth with attitudes, skills, and resources in order to recognize, report, and reduce youth violence. After attending this program, students were able to reach out to their peers with violence prevention techniques, recognize warning signs of potential youth violence, and encourage youth to report troubled behavior. They also worked on posters and listened to speakers that provided information about the importance of making themselves and others aware of all types of violence. Thank you to the Bridge Teen Center for hosting this year’s event. Bridge Teen Center is an innovative nonprofit community center that was designed around the interests and needs of teens in the southern suburbs. The Bridge Teen Center mission is to provide free programs during after-school and unsupervised hours where students can develop mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually in a safe environment.
