D228 Students Participate in Engineering & Robotics Showcase
The SouthWorks Engineering & Robotics Showcase was held at Prairie State College

Students from Bremen High School District 228 participated in The SouthWorks Engineering & Robotics Showcase on Wednesday January 17 at Prairie State College. The Showcase is an opportunity for regional manufacturing and logistics companies to learn what the local high school programs are currently accomplishing as they prepare to compete in the Southworks Engineering and Robotics Olympics. Hillcrest, Oak Forest, and Tinley Park High School students were given the opportunity to interact with numerous Southland companies including: Ardagh, Bimba Manufacturing, Camco Manufacturing, Do-Rite Manufacturing, GC America, ITW, Kay Manufacturing, LB Steel, Mi-Jack, Panduit, SET Enterprises, Sterling Lumber, Triton Manufacturing, and Whiting Corporation. The goal of the day was to assist students as they prepare for the Olympics and provide industry connections to inspire students to pursue careers in the manufacturing industry. Having an opportunity to network with sponsoring business representatives can be very beneficial to students who are thinking about their future careers. “The Showcase is a great way for our students to gain exposure to manufacturing career pathways right in our backyard,” stated Career Readiness Coordinator, Renee Mack. Bremen, Oak Forest, Tinley Park and Hillcrest High School Robotic Teams will choose to compete in SUMO Survivor, Catapult Launch, ROBO Pathfinder, VEX Robotics or Autonomous Racer at the Southworks Engineering and Robotics Olympics scheduled for April 14 at South Suburban College.
