D228 TEP Program Names Student of the Month Award Winners
The Transitional Employment Program announced the first semester winners
District 228's Transitional Employment Program (TEP) has announced the first semester 'Students-of-the-Month.' The TEP Student-Employee of the Month Award recognizes a student-worker who has demonstrated throughout an entire month’s time frame: independence, responsibility, a positive attitude, and a dedication to self-improvement both during instructional lessons and during on-the-site job-training. On a monthly basis, TEP staff selects one candidate from the program who has exhibited strong leadership skills and displayed characteristics of both a model student and an ideal employee. Then, on the final Friday of each month, acknowledged students are honored with a certificate and an award. Award recipients additionally have their photo displayed on the TEP’s Student-Employee of the Month board, providing other students with visual inspiration as well as a positive example of how to successfully conduct oneself both at TEP and in future community job-placements. The following students have earned this noteworthy title: October-Jalen Williams, November-Robert Ivy, and December-Eric Karjaka. These students serve as great peer-role models! TEP is a District 228 program that is available for high school students with an individual education plan. TEP is a course that is intended to further prepare and develop workplace skills by providing training essentials for students to successfully adjust to the world of work. Students are exposed to career awareness, career exploration and career development opportunities and are also matched to departments around South Suburban College where they receive onsite job-training. For more information on TEP contact Ms. Meredith Madden at (708) 596-2000 Ext. 2689.
