D228's Delta Adopts Cook County Forest Preserve Sites For Clean-Up
Bremen High School District 228's Delta Academy adopted two Cook County forest preserve locations for routine clean-up.

OAK FOREST, IL - Bremen High School District 228’s Delta Academy is taking a big step to help our environment for the 2023-2024 school year. Through the Forest Preserves of Cook County, Delta Academy has officially adopted two forest preserve locations through the county’s volunteer program, "Adopt-A-Site" for cleanup.
Delta plans to spend as much time as possible with students out in their adopted areas, the Midlothian Reservoir, located at 167th St, west of Cicero Avenue in Oak Forest, and Heritage West, also located in Oak Forest. The group of students and staff will voluntarily clean the site to keep it in good shape for the community and local wildlife to enjoy.
On the first day of school, August 18, Delta staff members made their way to the Midlothian Reservoir to begin their clean up efforts.

“We were trying to think of more creative ways we can get our students involved in the community, and make them see how important their community efforts are, ” said Dana Dobrovits, school counselor at Delta Academy. “We will be here periodically throughout the school year, and if students want to, they can volunteer on their own time to come out here and get some work done as well.”
Delta Academy has volunteered in numerous ways over the years, including at the South Suburban Humane society in Matteson. Dobrovits said they will continue these efforts, and are looking at more new initiatives in the near future.

“We love the joy it brings our students when they are getting involved,” Dobrovits said. “They get to look back and see that their hard work pays off for more than just themselves.”
