D228's Special Olympics Team Competes at the Spring Games
Team Braves had a lot of fun competing and ended their day with a total of eight athletes qualifying for the state competition

On Saturday, May 6, District 228’s Special Olympics Track-and-Field team headed to Thornwood High School in South Holland to compete in Region E’s Spring Games. Team Braves had a total of 15 athletes competing in both the male and female 50 meter dash and softball throw. Team Braves had a lot of fun competing and ended their day with a total of eight athletes qualifying for the state competition. State Qualifiers included: Tommy Black, Billy Davis, Nick D’Aguanno, Deja Voss, Jake Fenlon-Panozzo, Hector Martinez, Drew Suett, and Lee Williams. Coaches Meredith Madden and Rachel Wnenk are proud of Team Braves and each athlete’s overall dedication to the season and the positive leadership roles this year’s team exhibited. Junior Team Captain Drew Suett said, "This year's team was a lot of fun and a great way for us to support one another." State Qualifying Team Braves athletes and coaches will head to Illinois State University to compete at The Summer Games on June 15 & 16.
