District 228 "Doubles the Good” With Help of Double Good
Double Good Popcorn donates popcorn for D228 lunches during COVID-19
During these difficult times, Bremen High School District 228 has been doing what it can to give back to its community and local businesses who may be suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic. In November of 2019, Bremen High School teamed up with Double Good Popcorn “who is a community of like-minded dreamers, doers, believers, and thinkers committed to helping kids do what they love.”
The company makes its popcorn fresh every day. It then allows students to sell its popcorn as part of a fundraising campaign. Students get to keep 50 percent of the profits they sell which can then be used to buy items like team sporting equipment and uniforms.
District 228 has seen the benefits of partnering with Double Good Popcorn. In 2019, the Bremen High School wrestling team earned $1,200 in popcorn sales! And, since then, various clubs and sports teams at Bremen High School have earned roughly $45,000 from fundraising with Double Good.

“Double Good is always looking for ideas to help schools out,” says Bremen High School Athletic Director, Eric Washington.
Originally, the school (Bremen) and District 228 wanted to find a way to give back to Double Good during the pandemic. The district offered to buy 100 bags of popcorn from the company to then distribute with lunches to families who are in-need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

But David Lenti, Vice President of Partnerships for High Schools at Double Good, wouldn’t hear of it. Instead, Double Good donated all 100 bags of popcorn.
On Friday, April 17, District 228 divided this generous donation equally across its four schools and provided a special treat to families during lunch pickups.
Currently, Double Good is looking to further “the good” of their business by kicking up a new fundraising initiative during the pandemic. The company will allow schools to sell popcorn from their homes / virtually and will then give 100 percent of the proceeds to any charity of their choice.
