Drugs, Loaded Gun Found Near Kids in Dolton Day Care Center

Four people face charges after police found drugs and a loaded handgun in a Dolton home that is billed as a child day care center.

Chicago police executing a search warrant Thursday at a home in the 14400 block of South Kimbark said the ”smell of cannabis permeated throughout the building,” and officers reportedly found a mason jar of it ”in an unsecure area,” ABC-7 reports. Additionally, police found more cannabis, codeine bottles, and a loaded handgun in a nearby room, but that one was locked.

Children were present at the time of the search.

Maverick Magee, 28, of Dolton, is charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon, a misdemeanor child endangerment charge, two misdemeanor cannabis possession charges and two misdemeanor charges of possession of ammunition without a FOID card.

Donzell James, 25, of Chicago, is charged with felony possession of cannabis charge and a misdemeanor charge of contact with a street gang while on parole.

Deshawn Boswell, 25, of Chicago,Β is charged with a misdemeanor charge of contact with a street gang while on parole and Charlene Woodard, 50, also of Dolton, faces a misdemeanor child endangerment charge.
