Forest Ridge District 142 to Host Free Health and Safety Fair

The fair will be held Oct. 16 at Jack Hille Middle School.

Oak Forest families, along with those from surrounding communities, are invited to join Forest Ridge District 142 for a free health and safety fair.

Planned for Thursday, Oct. 16, the fair will be Chicago sports-themed, with an emphasis on sports safety, exercise and nutrition. Autographed photos and posters will be available, donated by Chicago’s pro teams an Comcast Sports Net.

The fair will feature NFL Play 60, in addition to many local and national organizations such as the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, and Chicago Epilepsy Foundation to teach local families how to improve their health.

The event will also stress awareness and learning acceptance of other childhood illnesses and disabilities such as autism and food allergies. Lessons in carseat safety and proper installation will also be provided. Oak Forest Fire, EMS, and police will be in attendance to help promote safety.

Walgreens will provide flu and other vaccinations such as TDap, Pneumonia, Shingles. Panera Bread, McDonald’s, GoGo SqueeZ, and Market Day will donate snacks. Each attendee is asked to bring a nonperishable item for donation to families in need.
