Friends Mourn Oak Forest Native Killed in Hawaii Skating Accident
The 27-year-old woman is remembered as bright and beautiful, kind to all.

An Oak Forest woman who died in a tragic rollerblading accident in Hawaii this week is being remembered by friends as a bright, fun-loving woman able to find the humor in everything.
Sarah Stanislawski, 27, was killed Tuesday morning when she collided with a car while rollerblading in the hills of Makakilo, on the island of Oʻahu. Police told KITV.com that Stanislawski was not supposed to be on the road when she apparently crashed into a BMW driving up the hill.
Police do not believe speed was a factor for the driver, a 54-year-old woman from the area. But Stanislawski might have been going excessively fast when she struck the car.

“It looked like she was falling as she got toward the intersection, because she was hit right in the intersection. It looked like she was trying to take the fall to stop when she was hit by the car,” Lt. Carlene Lau of the Honolulu Police Department Traffic Division told local reporters.
Back home in Oak Forest, many are stunned by the sudden loss of a woman who was a friend to so many.

“She was beautiful. Loved her friends,” said Chris Medina, who came to know Stanislawski through his former fiancée Juliana Ramos, and other friends. ”She was not easily embarrassed. A fighter. She was funny.”
The 2005 graduate of Oak Forest High School is recalled as a young woman who would ”talk to and hang out with anyone.”
Stanislawski had recently returned home and visited with friends and family, Medina said.
“She was a good friend,” he said. ”Lots of great times together.
“I’m just in shock more than anything. It just doesn’t seem like it could be.”
