FullServ Auto Care in Oak Forest Serves Children Fighting Cancer

When we think of auto care, we normally think of brakes, struts, shocks and exhausts, but FullServ Auto Care in Oak Forest hosted a holiday toy drive that shocked the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation by raising an impressive amount of toys, $40 in gift cards and $200.

FullServ Auto Care Owner Susan Khattab drew inspiration from the battles her family members and a friend fought against cancer in finding the motivation to help the POTCF. “The Treasure Chest Foundation is one of our favorite charities. We believe every child fighting cancer deserves a toy. I want to thank my customers who helped make the toy drive such a huge success,” explained Ms. Khattab.

Treasure Chest Foundation CEO and Founder Colleen Kisel recognizes and appreciates the dedication shown by FullServ Auto Care. “I am amazed what a business can do for a charity like ours,” said Ms. Kisel. “We are thankful for their support that will certainly provide joy to young people battling cancer.”

The POTCF is a unique organization whose services impact more than 16,100 young cancer patients in 66 cancer treatment centers in 21 states across the nation and in the District of Columbia. Nowhere else in the nation does such a program exist. Colleen Kisel founded the organization in 1996 after her then seven-year-old son Martin had been diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. Ms. Kisel discovered that giving her son a toy after each procedure provided a calming distraction from his pain, noting that when children are diagnosed with cancer their world soon becomes filled with doctors, nurses, chemotherapy drugs, surgeries and seemingly endless painful procedures. Martin celebrated his 29th anniversary of remission from the disease in March of 2022.
