Funeral Friday for Midlothian Woman Who Died of Flu-Like Symptoms

Funeral services will be held Friday for a 25-year-old Midlothian woman who died of flu-like symptoms this week.

Midlothian native and Bremen High School graduate Jessica Lundy died this week after showing some signs of the flu, her brother Brandon Lundy told Patch. She was scheduled to see a doctor Jan. 5—but died Jan. 4.

A funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10 a.m., at St. Christopher, 4130 147th St. in Midlothian. She will be laid to rest at Saint Benedict Cemetery, 4600 W. 135th St. in Crestwood.

“She was a sweet, outgoing girl who was kind-hearted and never raised her voice or disrespected anyone,” her uncle wrote on a GoFundMe page established to help the family pay for the burial. “My family is struggling with the harsh reality of the events of the last 24 hours. ... This is such a trying time and we are all so very heartbroken.”

Family expect a cause of death to be determined within a week.
