Harvey Mayor Dies, City Confirms
Harvey Mayor Christopher Clark has died, a City spokesperson confirmed Friday.

HARVEY, IL — The mayor of the City of Harvey has died, a spokesperson said in a statement Friday.
"The City of Harvey is deeply saddened to confirm the passing of Mayor Christopher J. Clark," the statement reads. "We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Mayor’s family, loved ones, and all members of the Harvey community during this difficult time."
Clark was first elected mayor in 2019, and won re-election in 2023. The City is working closely with Clark's family, the statement said, and will share additional information "when appropriate and with their consent."

City services and operations remain in place, the statement reads, and the "City continues to serve its residents without interruption.
"At this time, the City respectfully requests privacy for the family as they grieve," the statement reads.

A special City Council meeting is expected to be held Feb. 2 to appoint an acting mayor.
