High School & Police Department Team Up to Encourage Creativity
Bremen High School distributes chalk and encourages families to design, draw, dream, and decorate their world
Andrea Ignelzi is a Special Education Teacher at Bremen High School who sponsors the Bremen Circle Book Club. She wanted to find a way to encourage others to "design, draw, dream, and decorate their world" during this difficult time. In collaboration with Bremen High School, The Book Club purchased jumbo chalk and then distributed to families during lunch pickups on Friday, April 24th.
Students and families shared their ideas about how they planned to use the chalk. One student said he wanted to write a nice message for his mailman. Another student said she would use the chalk to decorate the sidewalk and spread cheer for people walking or jogging around the neighborhood.
Bremen also partnered with the Midlothian Police Department who agreed to distribute all of the extra chalk around the community. Specifically, chalk will be distributed to children in the neighborhood when police officers are patrolling and doing their birthday parades for little ones.
