Patch has compiled a list ways to help out Alex Fitzgerald and his family.

The benefit for Alex and his family is this Sunday, July 1st, 2012 at Bourbon Street from 2-7 p.m.. Tickets are $30 each, children $10 each. A swell of community support for a hospitalized student has swept across Oak Forest. Twelve-year-old Alex Fitzgerald suffered injuries after he was struck by a car in late April. He has remained hospitalized since the crash.

Oak Forest Patch has compiled a list of ways set up to help "Fitz" and his family. The information here will be updated as needed:
- A community group has set up a fundraising event for the family. It is set for 2 to 7 p.m. July 1 at 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park. The group behind the event is in need of donations for a raffle. The event has applied for 501(c) (3) status, which means that donations not receiving any goods or services can qualify for 100 percent deductions per IRSsection 170 of the IRS Code. The tax ID # is 45-5199946.
- Tickets for the event are $30 for adults and $10 for kids (6-13, children must be accompanied by an adult).
- Raffle tickets are available for those who cannot attend the event. Tickets are priced at $5 each and 5 for $20. The prizes are a wheel barrel of alcohol valued at more than $500, four White Sox tickets and five Cubs tickets with parking pass.
- Donation checks can be made out to "Fighting 4 Fitz." Donations or check can be taken to the during workday hours.
- The “PrayersforFitz” page offers updates on Fitz's condition, as well as the ability to leave messages. Email registration is required.
