It’s St. Baldric’s season and the foundation is hosting their signature head-shaving events all across the US. St. Baldric’s is working hard to raise funds and spread awareness to help children living with cancer.

Every three minutes a child is diagnosed withe cancer, worldwide. According to research done by the St. Baldric’s Foundation, one in five children diagnosed with cancer, in the United States, will not survive their battle.

March, 2015 the foundation teamed up with Bremen High School for a head shaving event. The auditorium was packed full of 1,000 students cheering on their 76 classmates and educators who participated in getting their heads shaved. The John Amico School of Hair Design was thrilled to be in attendance, showing their support the only way they know how, with their clippers and shears. The John Amico students, with the expertise of a surgeon, removed the participants locks and curls and watched as their frowns turned into smiles.

The school set a big goal to raise $15,000.
The event began at 1:30 PM with the Star-Spangled Banner and the excited applause of the crowd. Two Bremen freshmen, who have been diagnosed with cancer, told their stories as tears rolled down the faces of their fellow classmates. It truly brought the meaning of St. Baldric’s mission full circle. Under the direction of Theresa Connolly, the students lined up one after another to sit in the chairs for the John Amico School to defrock them. This was not the first time that Bremen High School and the John Amico students teamed up. This was the sixth year that the John Amico School of Hair Design has participated in Bremen High School’s St. Baldric’s fundraiser. The event was so successful from the volunteers to the students donations were at an all time high. Their were many students who raised large donations, Jacob b.($1,120.00),Tyler S ($995.00), and Ally R. ($900.00), just to mention a few. A big thank you goes out to everyone involved.
