Man Takes Own Life At Oak Forest Gun Range: Police

Police were called to Eagle Sports Range Wednesday around 12:15 p.m., according to incident reports.

OAK FOREST, IL — A man took his own life at a gun range in Oak Forest Wednesday afternoon, police said Thursday.

Police were called to Eagle Sports Range, 5900 W. 159th St., around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a man who had shot himself.

Authorities cleared the building of all customers other than a friend of the victim, who had been present at the time of the shooting and spoke with police about the incident.

The man—whose identity has not yet been released by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office—died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, authorities said. Lifesaving measures were not taken due to the severity of the injury, according to police incident reports.

Video footage from inside the range matched the witness' description of events, police said.
