Bomb Threat at Markham Courthouse Causes Evacuation

Police found nothing while searching the Marham courthouse Monday afternoon after a bomb threat was made.

MARKHAM, IL — The Cook County Sixth Municipal Courthouse at 16501 S. Kedzie Ave. in Markham was evacuated Monday afternoon after a bomb threat was made at the building.

Sophia Ansari, press secretary for the Cook County Sheriff's Office, confirmed late Monday afternoon that a bomb threat was made at the building around 1:30 p.m. Nothing was found, however.

Several police crews, including at least one detective with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the scene, where all occupants of the building were told to evacuate.

The occupants were being told to get in their cars and leave, according to Patch Editor Lorraine Swanson, who was on the scene. One police car swarmed to the scene blocking off an entrance. Other entrances were blocked off by law enforcement, and dozens of courthouse occupants exited the building.
