Men Seen With Guns At Park, Hazel Crest Police Warn

Police are asking for residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

HAZEL CREST, IL — Hazel Crest police are asking for the public's help after a video surfaced of two men flaunting guns at a park.

Police on Tuesday posted a warning to the public about the video, which showed one man holding a rifle, and another holding a handgun. A resident alerted police to the video after seeing it on social media, police said.

"The citizen discovered this video on social media and was in fear for children, citizens, and officers in the area," police wrote on social media.

Detectives have learned that there are groups "openly broadcasting live on social media with weapons" in Hazel Crest Proper, located from 167th Street to 171st and Park Avenue, and I-294.

"In these videos, young men are seen openly displaying assault rifles and automatic handguns," police said.

"Though these events seem to be directed towards specific people, they present a danger to the entire community!"

Anyone who witnesses similar activity is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately.

Hazel Crest police are working with county, state, and federal authorities to address the incident, police said.
