Midlothian Man Pleads Guilty to Drug Deal Tied to Teen's Death

The controversial case of a Worth teen's death took a definitive turn Friday, when a Midlothian man pleaded guilty for his part in a drug deal that took place moments before her death.

Eric S. Johnson was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for selling Brittany Wawrzyniak prescription anti-anxiety drug clonazepam.

Wawrzyniak died Nov. 8 after falling out of Johnson’s car as he drove away from the scene. Family and friends questioned Worth police findings, accused the department of botching the investigation and refusing to follow up on leads that Brittany may have been pushed out of the car. Despite angry residents swarming recent village board meetings demanding answers and justice for the Shepard High School grad, the investigation into her death was recently closed after police determined it was accidental.

Johnson will also be under supervision for one year following his prison term and will pay $1,079 in fines and court costs.
