More Winter Weather on the Way: Snow, Bitter Cold

A wind chill advisory is in effect tonight and a winter storm watch will take effect Monday night.

Up to 11 inches of snow could fall on the Chicago area in the next couple days, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Between 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected by midday Sunday and then another 3 to 6 inches of snow is expected to fall in most places in the Chicago area on Monday night, according to the newspaper. Some isolated areas could see between 7 and 8 inches of snow.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for midnight tonight through noon Monday for counties throughout the Chicago area including, Will, Kendall, DuPage, McHenry, Kane, Lake and Cook counties. Wind chill values are expected to drop to 20 to 30 below zero.

A winter storm has been issued for Monday evening through late Monday night.

Some areas will see in excess of 6 inches of snow during the winter storm and visibility on roadways could be reduced to less than a half-mile at times, according to the National Weather Service.

The dry nature of the snow and increasing winds could cause blowing and drifting snow Tuesday.

The cold is expected to continue Tuesday night through Thursday morning. Wind chill values between 25 below to 35 below zero is expected.
