Oak Forest Citizens Police Academy Applications Available
Only 25 students will be allowed in the free program that begins in September in Oak Forest.

OAK FOREST, IL -- Applications are now available for the Oak Forest Police Department's Citizens Police Academy. Participants will learn more about police practices and services, but the 12-week course will not result in one becoming an authorized police officer.
“Citizens will gain important insight into how law enforcement officials perform their duties and how the department serves the community,” said Community Program Officer Todd Arthur. “The purpose of the academy is to foster better communication between citizens and law enforcement through education."
The program, free of charge, will be limited to 25 students.

Arthur says it will create a nucleus of well-informed citizens who possess greater insight into police practices and services.
The class will meet on Mondays during the fall, from 7-10 p.m. from Sept. 11 through Nov. 27.
